Application must be completed and submitted online by 3:00 PM EASTERN TIME, Wednesday September 13, 2023.
***Teachers must have either paid MTNA dues or a nonmember teacher fee to be able to complete the student application. If the appropriate fee has not been paid, students will not be able to enter the competition.***
Chamber Music Competitions applications ARE NOT currently available. They will be available November 1, 2023.
Before proceeding with the application, please make sure you have the
following information available:
- PERFORMANCE: Complete repertoire information (title, movement numbers, opus or catalog numbers, tempo markings, complete composer names, historical period and timings).
- COMPOSITION: computer-generated PDF score and YouTube link.
- PayPal or a valid credit card number and security code (American Express, MasterCard and Visa).
States have the option in 2023 to hold live or video competitions. Search for your state to verify the type of competition and other details. Entrants are responsible for verifying the format (live or video) prior to entering the competition.
Clicking I Agree confirms:
- Entrant, parents/guardians and teacher have read, understand and agree to the Guidelines for the 2023–2024 MTNA Competitions. Failure to abide by these rules and regulations will make the student ineligible to receive recognition or awards.
- By entering the composition competition, entrants are giving permission for MTNA to publish a video of their composition, should they be named a national winner.
- Entrants under age 18 have parent/guardian permission to enter MTNA competitions.
- Credit card holder has authorized use to complete this application.
- All entry fees are nonrefundable.
- Entrant will abide by all copyright laws and, when applicable, has permission to use all music given to judges and accompanists during the competitions. Click here for Music Release Form. Original compositions are not required to have registered copyright to enter the composition competition.
