Opening Session Jon Manasse and Jon Nakamatsu The Manasse/Nakamatsu Duo, composed of clarinetist Jon Manasse and pianist Jon Nakamatsu, will perform in concert after the Opening Session. The duo serves as co-directors of the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival. They have made appearances on some of the country’s most prestigious series and have released two CDs. Individually, Manasse and Nakamatsu have developed extensive repertoires and discographies. Manasse has served as the principal clarinetist of The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Nakamatsu is the Gold Medalist of the 10th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. |
Piano Recital Spencer Myer is one of the outstanding pianists of his generation. Celebrated by critics and audiences alike, he has performed in recitals, orchestras and festivals throughout the world. Myer won first prize in the 10th UNISA International Piano Competition in South Africa and also was Gold Medalist of the 2008 New Orleans International Piano Competition. Other honors include the 2006 Christel DeHaan Classical Fellowship from the American Pianists Association and the Jacob K. Javits Memorial Fellowship from the United States Department of Education. A graduate of the Juilliard School, he has served on the faculties of the Baldwin-Wallace College and Oberlin College conservatories of music. |
